Handbook
The Mountain View Community School
Handbook has been prepared for the express purpose
of helping all students, parents, and staff understand the
rich traditions of Mountain View Community School.
The various policies, procedures, schedules, and descriptions
contained in the Handbook, necessary for any group of people
to work together harmoniously and efficiently, are derived
from many sources, including not only Vermont state laws but
also the philosophy and suggestions of the Board of Directors,
administration, faculty, parents, and students. They comprise
a living document that has evolved with the school and continues
to change as necessity dictates. As such, they are not some
kind of rigid "final word" but rather a current
consensus regarding what works best for our community. It
is indeed our effectiveness as a community that the Handbook
is intended to structure; therefore, it is important that
we remain vigilant regarding any needed changes and welcome
all suggestions for further improvement.
NOTICE:
PARENTS ARE URGED TO READ THE ENTIRE HANDBOOK, INCLUDING THE
SCHOOL'S POLICIES AND PROCEDURES WITH REGARD TO HARASSMENT,
HAZING, BULLYING AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR. PARENTS ARE FURTHER
URGED TO EXPLAIN TO THEIR CHILDREN WHAT BEHAVIOR IS EXPECTED.
CHILDREN SHOULD BE INFORMED BY THEIR PARENTS WHAT TO DO IN
THE EVENT THEY ARE EVER MISTREATED.
